LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 9
Day 9 - What do you think about LGBT Pride? Is it helpful or hurtful? Encouraged or unnecessary?  I think it’s fun.  It’s natural to celebrate sexuality, and straight people should do it as well.  Trans pride is also good I think mostly because trans people are so marginalized and so easy to overlook.  I don’t know about it being helpful, but I think it’s certainly helpful for the psyche of LGBT...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 8
Day 8 - What do you think the closet or being closeted means to you? Being in the closet to me is deceiving the world into thinking you’re straight and actively being deceptive or trying to avoid it more than the natural amount.

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 7
Day 7 - How your parents took it or how you think they might take it. I actually have no clue.  At the time, they hugged me and were glad I came out it seemed.  I think my dad is taking it well.  My mom, though, is different.  She never talks about anything like sexuality or religion or anything.  I have no clue what she ever really thinks about anything at all.  She was the first person I asked...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 6
Day 6 - Did you face any problems regarding religion? I used to be very religious, but my religious tendencies went down the drain around the time when I started having conflicts with my sexuality and how people perceived it.  Anyway, I always thought gay was okay, and when religious folk told me it wasn’t, I wasn’t happy about it.  I was being bullied by people affiliated with my church, and I...

A THEATER SEMI-NEAR ME (read: an hour and a half away) IS SHOWING DRIVE AGAIN.  WHY AM I SUCH A BUM AND AM JUST LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE?!  SERIOUSLY I JUST DROVE FOR THE SECOND TIME TODAY.  THAT’S ENOUGH TO GET ME ON THE HIGHWAY AND INTO A METROPOLITAN AREA RIGHT? BEFORE YOU ASK IF I’M OVERREACTING THIS IS DEFINITELY CAPSLOCK SERIOUS.

Trans* Youth Sexual Health Booklet →
This is pretty great!  Queer youth get absolutely no sexual health education here (but to be fair, straight kids don’t either), so to have this sort of thing out there circulating is absolutely fabulous!

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 5
Day 5 - Thoughts regarding inner turmoil about your sexuality; Did you have any? Did it escalate to self-injury or suicidal thoughts? I did have turmoil, and I still do.  I had suicidal thoughts, but they stemmed mostly from bullying and alienated feelings I had.  It took me two years to admit to myself I was probably gay and it took me another three years to come out to everyone.  I come from the...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 4
Day 4 - The first person you came out to and that story. The first person I came out to was my best friend at the time who I was ridiculously in love with.  I was 13, and I didn’t believe I was gay at all.  However, she identified as bisexual, and I came out as a passive-aggressive way to get her to realize that I was a dating option.  It worked!  Eventually…  And it got me to realize that ladies...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 3
Day 3 - How old were you when you knew? What was that like for you? I denied it for a good two years from when I first started to realize.  I thought I was just gay for one special person.  It took me a while to realize that I hadn’t ever felt the way I felt for girls for guys, even though I had previously dated a guy and thought I had feelings for him.  It was a little hard.  I had been bullied a...

Giving my money away and I can’t choose one charity because i’m super indecisive, so giving to the Ali Forney Center for LGBTQ homeless youths in NYC; Farm Sanctuary (the one in Watkins Glen, NY); and Small Pets-Big Hearts based in Buffalo, NY, where I adopted my lovely rats and which does a really fantastic job rescuing small animals that people don’t even seem to care about. ...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge Day 2
Day 2 - Did you have any experiences as a child that might have foreshadowed your sexuality?  I mean, if we get stereotypical here, I was always a tomboy, I played rough with my male cousins, on the playground I would play with the guys.  More tellingly, I could never tell what made a guy attractive or not, and all of that was very confusing to me.  Sometimes I got way too close to female...

Dad: We're going to start a new Christmas tradition!
Me: God, you say that every year and we've never done any of them.
Dad: Yeah, but this is Christmas adam [Christmas eve eve, apparently]
Me: Well it's technically Christmas eve now, but what?
Dad: Every Christmas adam, we'll watch Taxi Driver!
Me: ...

LGBTQ 30 Day Challenge
Day 1 - Your sexual orientation or gender identity. Be creative in your definition. I’m a nonaffiliated gay person.  I’ve got lady bits, but I don’t really “identify” with gender.  I do identify with “gay” out of solidarity with other homos out there, and I have lady bits and like other people with lady bits (who don’t affiliate or affiliate with female).

Christmas miracle: I actually played the piano, the flute, and my electric guitar today.  I hadn’t touched that guitar in at least six years.  Literally touched.  I tuned it, even broke a string in the process and have the battle scar.  This was quite a day.  My boredom reached new bounds.  I only have, what, four more weeks of this?

15 Day Harry Potter Challenge: Day 15
Day 15: Would you have joined Dumbledore’s Army? Of course, I want to say yes.  Who wouldn’t?  However, would I actually, facing severe penalties of actual physical harm?  I still say yes.  some things are just awful, and were there a clearly defined evil in the world and something I could do to stop it, then I would say yes, in whatever situation.
