Just watched: Drive
My favorite movie of last year by far.  Not like I saw much from last year.  I also thought it had to be one of the best movies of the year considering how everyone thought the year was crap for movies.  And it had to be one of the best directed.
I put it in the same category as In Bruges.  A great, original film that no one cares about for some or other reason.  I would say it’s because they’re both too gritty and violent, but this is the Academy that said No Country for Old Men was the best movie of 2007 over the best film of the decade (There Will Be Blood for those who aren’t as bitter about the 2008 Academy Awards as I am).  I’m guessing it’s because they’re original in vision, whereas the Academy’s only going to pick violence if it fits the neat little categories of prescribed messages and simple ideas of good and bad.
Anyway, Drive does have its flaws:
Ryan Gosling is not Kate Winslet.
Carey Mulligan is not Kerry Washington
It’s too good for the current Academy.
I also usually link to the trailer, but I think the trailer for this is too revealing, so you’re just left with my opinions SORRY.

Kerry Washington Talks Scandal, She Hate Me and that Dusty Springfield Biopic

OMG KRISTIN CHENOWETH AND KERRY WASHINGTON IN A DUSTY SPRINGFIELD BIOPIC WOULD BE THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER, NOT EVEN EXAGGERATING A LITTLE BIT.

Just watched: The Last King of Scotland
I want to be James McAvoy in this.  I mean, besides all the awful, awful things that happened to him, he had sexual tension with Gillian Anderson AND Kerry Washington.  I’m pretty sure that will never happen with anyone ever again, but please, Hollywood, prove me wrong!  Or better yet, cut the middle man and have Gillian Anderson have sexual tension with Kerry Washington.  Or add a middle man and have me be with either.  All I’m saying is that they are both fine ladies and James McAvoy is a lucky man.  I’ll stop fangirling out now…
But seriously I’ve been watching The X-Files my entire life, and if you read this Gillian call me because I’m not quite as creepy as I am coming off now.
